If you’re looking to apply for a credit card you will have to make a loan application with your bank.

As mentioned ABSA and Nedbank currently offer MasterCard branded options. To qualify for a credit card you must meet the requirements of the specific bank.

Most will have to have the set minimum monthly income, have a good credit record, and a solid history with their bank.

Pre-qualified for a credit card?

To find out if you’re already pre-approved for a credit card you can log into your online banking profile and check out the offers available to you. Alternatively, you can call the bank and a consultant should be able to help you check.

If you’re pre-approved you won’t even have to apply you’ll just have to digitally accept the terms and conditions as set out by the bank and you’re ready to go!

What if I don’t qualify?

If you don’t qualify for a credit card, you can opt for a debit card that carries the MasterCard logo. Debit cards can also be used to shop online and pay for goods and services across the world.
